DirtRag’s Rimstrips Review

Dirt Rag Magazine (a great mountain bike magazine btw) did an article a while back reviewing the different options in rimstrips. Plastic rimstrips are pretty essential to some tubeless setups, so it was a great read that shows what options are available.

I used ghetto tubeless (split 24′ innertube) for a while. Perfect in combination with Sun Mtx rims and 2,5′ UST tires with some Stan’s. Problem: on really hard bumps the tire will loose some pressure (you hear the burping) and you end up slicing the tire.
Recommended for normal offroad rides, bad for HK DH.

I had an old baby jogger tube, an extra sun rim, and a kenda kinetics 2.6…
I tried the Ghetto Tubeless… and it works!
I has been holding air for about 3 hours, with no sealant (the tire had been sealed with Stans before)…
If it hold air through the night… I will try it with the 29er and an old mtb tube…
